Clinical Skills Training: ECG (12 Lead Placement) (ECG - 112)
The CRP, in collaboration with the Norman Knight Nursing Center for Clinical and Professional Development, is offering ECG 12 lead placement Clinical Skills Training for Clinical Research Coordinators. Offered monthly, these trainings will offer a classroom section, as well as a "hands-on" portion, where CRCs can practice lead placement and have their competency assessed on a live volunteer. This two-hour training is limited to 8 individuals to facilitate interaction.

MGH Research Nurse Roundtable (RN ROUNDTABLE - 112)
The mission of the MGH Research Nurse Roundtable is to provide a forum for Research Nurses, Research Nurse Practitioners and other interested nurses within the MGH community who are involved in the implementation of clinical research to discuss issues common to their practice. The forum, led by experienced research nurses in collaboration with the Clinical Research Program Education Unit, will provide an opportunity for knowledge sharing, problem solving, peer support and community building.

This new monthly offering will orient attendees to the basics of clinical research -- from demystifying the different types of research to translating basic clinical research terminology, from describing the scientific method to delineating the differences between NIH, industry and investigator-initiated studies, from introducing the basics of study design and procedures to reviewing essential documents, federal regulations and guidelines and the basics of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and reviewing key factors involved in working with human subjects, this highly interactive training will get you started in your career in clinical research and give you the tools you need to succeed.

Orientation to Clinical Research at MGH (CRC ORIENTATION - 112)
New to clinical research at MGH? This class provides valuable information about navigating the MGH research system, and, through case studies, will guide you through learning about the Partners Human Research Committee (HRC) policies and guidance documents, research record keeping requirements and Institutional Review Board (IRB) forms and submission processes. Further information about the roles and responsibilities of research staff, research-related training and resources and career paths for clinical research professionals at MGH will also be reviewed in this training. Although not mandatory, it is recommended that all new clinical research staff at MGH attend this training.

Who Tells the IRB What to Do?: The Effects of Case Law on Research Regulations and Oversight (IRB - 103)
Who tells the IRB what to do and where did these regulations and systems come from anyway? In this presentation Pearl O'Rourke, MD (Director, Partners Research Affairs) will provide a historical review of challenges to research regulations and guidelines and will describe how case law has informed the current system of research oversight.
Harvard Medical School designates this educational activity for a maximum of 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. This course qualifies for 2.0 Risk Management CMEs. Clinical Research Program Luncheon Seminar Series (CRC SEMINARS - 112)
The Clinical Research Program hosts a monthly continuing education series for Research Nurses and study staff, featuring topics such as, "Learn about the eIRB," "Using Media for Recruiting," and "Research Pharmacy: What Can it Do for You." Topics vary, depending on what subjects are in high demand. These lectures qualify for continuing education credits for nurses. Lunch is served at 12pm and the lectures begin at 12:10pm.
