Opening Lines
The first issue of Generally Speaking in 2018 celebrates all things new. Included in this edition is a new series, “The Coaching Corner” by Kerri Palamara McGrath. As many DGIM members are learning, Kerri is leading high impact programs that are directly addressing the challenges of burnout in medicine. Our commitment to supporting the careers of our Division members is incredibly strengthened by the leadership provided by Kerri, as described in this issue. And, while I am on the topic of “New Happenings in DGIM,” I want to highlight a recent change for the Division. One week before the winter holiday break, the Division of General Internal Medicine packed up 30 years of project documents, appointment records, mementos, and memories and 48 hours later, thanks to the wonderful planning of Shelli Mahan and our team, the Division had moved its administrative home from the 9th floor of 50 Staniford Street to the 16th floor of 100 Cambridge Street. Joining us on this move were many members of the new Mongan Institute, including members of the Medical Practice Evaluation Center, Health Policy Center, Disparities Solution Center, and Clinical and Translational Epidemiology Unit. On this Thursday (February 15), we will celebrate the amazing new space with an open house party, providing an opportunity for all members of DGIM to come together and renew old friendships and meet new colleagues. We hope to see you there.
